Educational Field Trips for Students and Teachers
Take a trip out of your classroom and into ours during a field trip to Gulf World Marine Park! We offer special group rates and field trip opportunities to school groups, boy and girl scout troops, and many more groups and organizations.During your time at Gulf World, your group will encounter exciting animals from around the world, including dolphins, sea lions, alligators, sharks, penguins, flamingos, iguanas and tropical birds. Through experiential learning and up-close animal interactions, students will discover the importance of the ocean’s fragile ecosystem—as well as ways to protect the environment in their everyday lives.
Here at the park, we also realize the emphasis teachers place on state educational standards. To help with curriculum planning, therefore, we have created many helpful activities, games and lesson plans to assist teachers in the classroom—before, during, and after a field trip to Gulf World.
Zooworld also offers an interactive learning Intern Program. It is a three month program which provides college credits upon completion.
This program is hands on where students will learn about husbandry, habitat, training, show presentation and have the opportunity to observe veterinary procedures. It is a well supervised program with a nice variety of animals to work with and learn about.
St. Andrews State Park can be a fun "hands on" adventure for students, teachers and parents. Choose a variety of trails to explore. The Blue Heron Trail starts at the turpentine still and winds through a number of plant communities. Pine flat woods, sand pine scrub, freshwater and saltwater marshes are encountered as well. The Gator Lake Trail and overlook provide students with a beautiful vantage point for spotting alligators and a variety of water fowl, wading birds and other small animals.
Stop by the Interpretive Information Center which is FREE to visitors and learn more about sea life, vegetation and eco-system.

The diverse habitat is responsible for the variety of birds and wildlife within the park. At Button Bush Marsh overlook a host of birds can be viewed. Herons and Egrets feed along the fertile marsh edge as a variety of water-fowl swim and feed in the depths. The Common Egret, Cattle Egret and Snowy Egret are all predominately white and have established rookeries in two areas of the park, Buttonbush Marsh and Bird Island. Watch out for the alligators as they sun themselves and hunt their prey.
