If you are looking for Panama City Beach golf, Hombre Golf Club boasts a convenient location on Panama City Beach Parkway (Back Beach Road) just minutes from Pier Park and from most condos and hotels on Front Beach Road. Hombre is not only one of Florida’s premier championship courses, it is very unique. There are basically three courses: The Good, The Bad and The Ugly. Each course features 9 holes – The Bad and The Ugly are par 36, The Good Course, par 35. All three are actually playable in three 18 hole combinations: The Bad/The Ugly, The Ugly/The Good, and The Good/The Bad – and out of the 27 total holes at the club, 21 of those feature water, which makes for a challenging and scenic game.
The club has been part of Panama City Beach’s history since 1989, when there were just 18 holes. Hombre hosted its first PGA tour event in 1990, the Panama City Beach Classic. Designed by Wes Burnham, the inaugural round was played by a legendary foursome: Hubert Green, Hal Sutton, Donnie Hammond and Buddy Gardner. The final “Good” nine holes were added in February 2001, and the club has continued to be a favorite Panama City Beach golf attraction ever since. The three courses that make up Hombre Golf Club are some of the most beautiful you will see anywhere. Meticulously manicured to PGA specifications throughout the year, Hombre is nestled amidst wetlands, marshes, lakes and preserves, and is beautifully framed with a stunning assortment of palms, pines and azaleas. One of the most picturesque holes is The Ugly's #2, a 166-yard, par 3, which is a replica of hole #16 at Augusta National.
Hombre is also the annual host of the PGA Tour Qualifying School, earning the Wes Burnham design a reputation for intimidation, and is headquarters for the Academy at Hombre Golf Club which offers half day, 2 day, 3 day, and 5 day clinics. The Academy is located on the back of the driving range at Hombre Golf Club and features state of the art swing analysis equipment to take your game to a higher level! The academy has provided instruction to many of today's PGA and LPGA Tour professionals including Hubert Green and many others.
